Asia's Artwork

I love Asia's artwork for a number of reasons. Although the style isn't necessarily something that I myself would emulate in my own work, there are definitely techniques that she uses and aesthetics that she adheres to that I would like to be able to incorporate into my own art.

Although originally Asia was encouraged to create more photorealistic fine art paintings and drawings during her time at art college, she was always inspired by Japanese styles of drawing. Specifically manga and anime. Upon starting her Instagram page, she decided to focus more on her manga inspired style of drawing over more fine art pieces. She adapts the manga style very well, using her more fine art background to help make an art style that has elements of realism and cartooning blended seamlessly together.

Her skill in different media is also very impressive. Not only is she highly proficient in traditional media, but her digital artwork is also incredibly impressive. In terms of media she uses mostly pencil and pen for her line art and copic markers and Photoshop/Clip Studio for her colours. In both digital media and traditional her colouring is amazing. The way she blends her colours to create a really satisfying gradient is something that I particularly am envious of. She has a real mastery over light and shade as well as lighting effects that bring her artwork to life in spectacular fashion. Her sketching and line art is incredibly nice as well. The lines are clean, fluid and purposeful and retain a lot of energy that makes the drawings feel very alive.

Overall the thing about her artwork that I like the most is how aesthetically pleasing it is to look at. Asia undeniably has a very pretty art style, and its that prettiness that I like so much about it and would like to be able to incorporate into my own work. In a world filled with a lot of artists who draw in either rougher or more graphic/angular styles, its nice to have artwork that is softer on the eyes.
